About West Wyoming
West Wyoming is a borough in Luzerne County, part of the Greater Pittston area on the west side of the Wyoming Valley. It grew from the grist and woolen mills Benjamin Carpenter built along Abrahams Creek in the 1780s, later bought by the Shoemaker family. Known earlier as Carpenter's Mills and then Shoemaker's Mills, it incorporated as a borough in 1898.
The borough covers about 3.6 square miles that rise from the valley floor toward the mountain, bordering Wyoming, Exeter, Swoyersville, and Kingston Township. It recorded 2,638 residents in 2020.
