About Pocono Lake
Pocono Lake is an unincorporated community in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, west of Pocono Pines along Route 940. It was first known as Hauser's Mill, where a Reformed church was built in 1884.
Timber was the early industry. The village and its neighbors supported sawmills, two clothespin factories, and a shoe-peg factory before mountain tourism drew city visitors in the late 1800s.

Today Pocono Lake is second-home country. Vacation houses and private lake communities fill the wooded township. Interstate 380 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension put the area within reach of both Scranton and the Lehigh Valley. Route 940 carries local traffic toward Mount Pocono and Blakeslee.
