About Blakeslee

Blakeslee is a small community in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, at the intersection of Route 115 and Route 940. It is named for Jacob Blakeslee, an early settler and the area's first postmaster, who ran a 300-acre homestead nearby and served as justice of the peace.

The post office was established in 1884. The crossroads sits close to Interstate 80 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension.

Blakeslee works as a service point for the vacation and lake developments that surround it. Its location at the meeting of two state routes, minutes from the interstate, makes it a common stop for traffic heading deeper into the Poconos.
