About Meshoppen
Meshoppen sits on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River in western Wyoming County. The borough takes its name from Meshoppen Creek, which meets the river here. Meshoppen takes its name from Meshoppen Creek, a Lenape name from Maschapi with a locative ending, meaning "glass beads."
The population was 326 at the 2020 census, making it the smallest of Wyoming County's five boroughs. The Old White Mill, a historic mill in the borough, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Meshoppen lies along Route 6 between Tunkhannock and Laceyville, about seven miles northwest of Tunkhannock, the county seat. It is a small, affordable river community in a rural, agricultural stretch of the Endless Mountains. Buyers here find modest homes, river frontage, and open land at low prices.
