Forkston Township sits in the northwest of Wyoming County, named for its place at the forks of Mehoopany Creek. The population was 305 at the 2020 census. It is one of the county's smallest and most remote townships.
The township covers roughly 70 square miles of high, forested ground, with elevations above 2,000 feet and only a few people per square mile. State game lands and North Mountain terrain fill much of it. Mehoopany Creek runs through the valley.
This is a land and recreation market, not a residential one. Route 87 follows the creek toward Mehoopany and the Susquehanna. Buyers come for large wooded tracts, hunting camps, and creek frontage in one of the least developed corners of the Endless Mountains.
