About Weatherly

Weatherly was settled in 1825 by Benjamin Romig and first called Black Creek. It was renamed for David Weatherly, a clockmaker and railroad director, and incorporated as a borough on October 8, 1863. The 2020 population was 2,541.

The borough sits in Carbon County, in the Lehigh Gorge region southeast of Hazleton. It grew as a railroad town.

The Beaver Meadow Railroad, later the Lehigh Valley Railroad, built repair shops in the borough, and a silk mill added to the local economy. Eurana Park, donated around 1913 by steel magnate Charles M. Schwab, is named for his wife Eurana. The borough is served by the Weatherly Area School District.

Housing is a stock of older frame and brick homes at affordable prices. Weatherly offers small-town living near the Lehigh Gorge and its outdoor recreation, within commuting distance of Hazleton.
