About Sweet Valley

Sweet Valley is an unincorporated village in Ross Township, in the rural northwest corner of Luzerne County. A post office was established here in 1847, with Josiah Ruggles among its early postmasters.

Ross Township was formed in January 1842 and named for William S. Ross, and recorded 2,726 residents in 2020.

The area is served by the Lake-Lehman School District. Part of Ricketts Glen State Park, known for its waterfalls, lies within Ross Township.

This is the outer edge of the Back Mountain, well beyond the suburban ring. Housing is rural, with farms, wooded lots, and homes on acreage near small lakes and ponds. It draws buyers who want land and quiet within reach of the Dallas area and Wilkes-Barre.
