About Scott Township

Scott Township lies in north-central Lackawanna County. It was created in 1846 when it was partitioned from Greenfield Township to the north. The township sits just northwest of the old mining boroughs of Olyphant and Dickson City and a short drive north of Scranton.

Scott covers about 27.5 square miles of small farms, woods, and lakes, and recorded 4,629 residents at the 2020 census, making it one of the larger rural-suburban townships in the county. Interstate 81 runs along its western edge. Its main settlements are Justus in the south and Montdale toward the center and north.
