About Pocono Pines

Pocono Pines is a community in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. It was first called Naomi Pines, after Thomas Miller bought 550 acres here in 1882 and named his property for the pines.

Around the 1890s the Miller family formed an ice company and dammed Tunkhannock Creek to create the lake later known as Lake Naomi, a 277-acre body of water. Ice cut from the lake shipped by rail to distant cities.

In 1963 Logan Steele bought some 2,600 acres and developed the modern Lake Naomi Club, now a member-owned community of roughly 1,400 property-owning families. Pocono Pines sits along Route 940 near Pocono Manor. It is a gated, amenity-rich lake community with a strong second-home market alongside its full-time residents.
