About Nescopeck
Nescopeck was settled in 1786 on the site of a former Lenape village. The name is a Lenape word generally translated as 'deep, still water.' Pennsylvania's municipal records date its incorporation as a borough to 1896. The 2020 population was 1,480.
The borough sits on the Susquehanna River directly across from Berwick, in Columbia County, and is linked to it by the PA Route 93 bridge. It lies downriver and southwest of Wilkes-Barre.

Nescopeck State Park, about eighteen miles east, takes its name from the same creek and mountain. In August 2022 the borough was the site of a house fire that killed ten people, one of the deadliest in recent Pennsylvania history. Nescopeck is served by the Berwick Area School District.
Housing is small-borough and affordable, older frame and brick homes on a compact grid by the river. Its market is tied closely to Berwick just across the bridge.
