About Hunlock Creek
Hunlock Creek is an unincorporated village in Hunlock Township, Luzerne County. It takes its name from Jonathan Hunlock, an early settler near the creek, not from a Native American word. Hunlock Township was organized in 1877.
The community lies in a valley near the Susquehanna River, a few miles west of Nanticoke and west-southwest of Wilkes-Barre. The census reports population for the township, which stood at 2,223 in 2020.
