Edwardsville

About Edwardsville

Edwardsville was settled in 1768 by families from Connecticut and incorporated as a borough in 1884. It lies on the west side of the Wyoming Valley, with the Susquehanna River forming its southern border.

Like its neighbors, Edwardsville grew as an anthracite mining borough through the late 19th and early 20th centuries and drew immigrant families to its residential blocks. Mining fell off across the valley by the mid-20th century.
