About Edwardsville
Edwardsville was settled by families from Connecticut in the years after 1769 and incorporated as a borough on June 16, 1884. It lies on the west side of the Wyoming Valley, with the Susquehanna River forming its southern border.
Like its neighbors, Edwardsville grew as an anthracite mining borough through the late 19th and early 20th centuries and drew immigrant families to its residential blocks. Mining fell off across the valley by the mid-20th century.

U.S. Route 11 runs through the borough, tying it to Kingston and Wilkes-Barre a short distance east. Edwardsville had 4,929 residents in 2020. Its housing is mostly coal-era frame and brick homes and doubles, and it remains an affordable west-side market.
