01 Our Commitment

Jonathan J. Nelson Real Estate is committed to making jjnre.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, use magnification, or rely on captions and reduced motion.

Housing is not optional, and neither is being able to look for it. We treat an accessibility barrier on this site the same way we treat a broken link on a listing: as a defect to fix, not a preference to accommodate.

02 The Standard We Build To

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance and by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Conformance is a direction of travel, not a certificate. This site is actively developed and includes property data supplied by a third-party multiple listing service that we do not author. Where the two conflict, we fix what is ours and work around what is not.

03 What We Have Done

• A “skip to content” link on every page, so keyboard users are not forced through the navigation on every visit.
• Visible focus outlines on links, buttons and form fields, so you can always see where you are.
• Form fields with real, programmatically associated labels — not placeholder text standing in for a label.
• Property photographs with descriptive alternative text naming the address, town and property type.
• Keyboard operation and focus trapping for the photo lightbox and every dialog, including a working Escape key.
• Respect for the operating system’s reduce motion setting: animations are suppressed when you ask for that.
• Tap targets sized for touch, and text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 px viewport.
• Colour contrast measured against the WCAG formula rather than judged by eye.

04 Known Limitations

Being straight with you about what is not finished:

• Third-party listing content. Property descriptions, photographs and documents come from the multiple listing service and are written by the listing brokerage. We cannot edit their alternative text or the contents of an uploaded PDF.
• Embedded maps. The interactive Google map on property and area pages has limited keyboard support. Every property page also states the full address in text, so no information is available only inside the map.
• Older documents. Some PDFs supplied by third parties are scanned images without a text layer. Ask us and we will read one to you or send the information in another format.

05 Tell Us About a Barrier

If any part of this website prevents you from finding a property, contacting an agent, or completing something you set out to do, please tell us. You do not need to know why it is broken or use any particular terminology — describe what happened and we will take it from there.

We aim to acknowledge every accessibility report within three business days and to tell you either that it is fixed or what our plan and timeline are. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will give you the same information another way in the meantime — by phone, by e-mail, or in person.

06 Fair Housing

Jonathan J. Nelson Real Estate is committed to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

We will remove or disable access to material we determine to be infringing and will notify the party that supplied it. Repeat infringers are reported to the multiple listing service.
