About Tresckow

Tresckow is a small community in Banks Township, Carbon County. It was founded around 1851 and earlier known as Dutchtown for its German-speaking settlers. The 2020 population was 783, down from 880 a decade earlier.

It sits in the anthracite country east of Hazleton, with deep roots in coal mining and rail.

Tresckow is a former coal-patch community. Like much of the anthracite region, it has lost population steadily since the mines closed.

Housing is older and among the most affordable in the area, frame homes on small lots. It draws budget-minded buyers within reach of the Hazleton job market.
