About Jefferson Township

Jefferson Township was first settled in 1784 and organized in 1816, making it one of the earliest-settled parts of what is now Lackawanna County.

Farming and milling shaped the township's early years. It has since shifted toward a mix of year-round homes and seasonal lake communities in the Pocono uplands.
